1. First open CTS Software - TripMaster and with your mouse, hover Common Tasks
2. Click Subscription Routes
3. This will take you to Subscription Routes. There are 3 sections to this page, and in this tutorial we'll look at the first section, Subscription Routes
4. To add a new route, click +New Subscription Route
5. This will open a secondary window, here we'll fill in the Route Number, which can be any number you like as long as it's not used by another route.
6. Next you must enter a Description
7. A vehicle can be added to this route each day from the daily schedule screen. However, if the same vehicle typically operate this route, you can add it here. To select the Vehicle, click the Vehicle drop down menu.
8. Select the vehicle you want to be assigned to this route from the menu. Again this can edited on a daily basis if necessary, but if you add a vehicle here this route will always appear in the daily schedule with this vehicle assigned to complete it.
9. For reporting you may also want to select a purpose for this route by clicking the Purpose drop down menu.
10. If you don't see the purpose you need listed here you can always edit and add purposes in the Purpose Master Page under the Master Pages menu.
11. You can assign a provider to the route by selecting the drop down menu.
12. This setting if toggled on will prevent the TripScheduler from scheduling trips for this route.
13. This option if toggled on will allows Micro Transit rides to be scheduled on this route.
14. A driver can be added to this route each day from the daily schedule screen. However, if the same driver typically operate this route, you can add them here. To select the driver, click the driver drop down menu.
15. Select the Driver from the menu. If selected here, this route will always appear on the daily schedule with this driver. It can still be edited day by day later.
16. The maximum number of hours a driver is allowed to work per day. Once this limit is entered, TripScheduler will ensure that the driver is not scheduled beyond the specified maximum.
17. This field is used to record internal notes or comments related to the route.
18. Use this area to assign a GTFS Block to the route and activate flag stops, permitting drivers to pick up or drop off passengers at unmarked fixed route locations. To assign a block select the dropdown menu.
19. Next select the days of the week this route will operate. By default, Monday through Friday operation days are already selected. Clicking a blue highlighted day will turn it grey, and the route will not operate on that day.
20. This route will operate Monday through Friday, so click Wednesday again to turn it blue. Now the route will operate on Wednesday every week, along with any other days we have selected.
21. The next required information for any route is it's availability. Click Available Start Time to fill in the time the route will begin.
22. Next, fill in the Available End Time to choose the time the route will end each day.
23. If a vehicle starts from a location other than the main garage, you can specify the starting location here by selecting add start Depot.
24. If a vehicle ends from a location other than the main garage, you can specify the ending location here by selecting add end depot.
25. All required information is filled out, but you may want to add other details to this route.
For example, you can choose to add pre-trip and post-trip checks to the route by clicking the toggle switches.
26. And filling in the Pre-Trip and Post-Trip duration. This is the time in minutes that it takes to complete the check.
27. You can also include a break for the driver by clicking the three dots under edit break and selecting edit.
28. You can also include a break for the driver by turning on the include break toggle.
29. Click Break Duration to enter the length of the break in minutes. You can then add the Scheduled Start Time in the next box.
30. Alternatively you can add a wider break window and either the dispatcher or TripScheduling feature will schedule the break at the best time during the assigned window.
31. Be sure to assign a start and end time for the break window and Click Update Break
32. When you have added all the required fields (Route Number, Description, Available Times, and Days of the Week) and any other fields you'd like to fill out, you can save your new route by clicking the Save button.
33. You can add a route overlay to keep a driver within a specific area when using the TripScheduler. Overlays are managed on the Overlay Master page.

35. Your new route will now appear in the top section with any other routes you've created.
36. You can filter which routes you see by which day of the week they repeat on using the Day Selection bar above.
This will also filter the rides attached to the route, and in the holding pen.
37. Click the All Routes to filter your routes by name and number, helpful if you have many routes.
38. Just search the name or number of a route you'd like to view in the Search Bar.
39. You can also filter by Providers if you have multiple providers in your database.
40. Click the blue Edit button to edit the route if necessary.
41. Clicking the triangle next to the blue Edit button will cause a small drop down menu to appear, giving you the option to delete or preview the route.
42. That's it. You've added a new route.
Any changes made to this page will affect all future days, not the current day. You can add and edit today's routes through the daily schedule page.
