31 STEPS
-
Once you have selected which day you'd like to schedule for on your Daily Schedule screen, it's time to AutoSchedule! But first make you've clicked Geocode Day
-
And click Calculate Direct Drives
You'll always have to make sure these 2 steps are done before you use the AutoSchedule.
All sites have to be Geocoded, and all drives have to be calculated for the AutoSchedule to function. -
Now you can click AutoSchedule.
This will open a new window. -
In the AutoSchedule window there are three main areas.
First, the Date that you are scheduling appears in the top left, and the top area contains all of the AutoSchedule features. -
All available Routes for the day appear in this area. If you have more routes than can fit on this page, the bottom left allows you to navigate. Notice the counter in the top left, Routes Selected.
-
Rides you have manually assigned to a route will not be moved off the route by AutoSchedule. This is indicated by the small blue lock icon.
Vehicle capacity is shown here as well. -
To allow the AutoSchedule the ability to assign rides to all of your routes, click the Toggle Switch at the top.
-
You can also toggle individual routes. If you don't want AutoSchedule to assign rides to a particular route, just click the Toggle Switch next to the route you want to deselect.
-
The last section of AutoSchedule is dedicated to the rides. Each ride you have for this day is listed. If you have multiple pages of rides, navigate between pages using the bottom left arrows.
Rides Selected is also shown in the top left. -
To select all rides and allow AutoSchedule to assign them to routes, click the Toggle Switch at the top.
Just like in the Routes area this will select all rides. But they can be toggled individually to let AutoSchedule selectively assign rides. -
In both boxes, click the Wrench icon to bring up filtering options.
In the Routes box, this will allow you selectively filter and search your routes. -
Routes can be filtered by whether they are selected or not, whether they have rides assigned or not, by route number, vehicle mobility features, and provider.
-
Click OK to apply any filters you've selected.
-
The Rides area has different filtering options.
Click Wrench icon here to see the ride filtering menu. -
Rides can be filtered by selection, will call status, and whether they have been seated already.
They can also be filtered by a range of other options in the boxes below.
Multiple entries can be added to each box. -
For example, you could search for all rides with a mobility of Stretcher and a mobility of Wheelchair, that will be dropped off in Asheville, NC.
This allows you to seat certain rides first, or filter out rides you don't want to AutoSchedule. -
Once you are finished filtering your Rides area, click OK to apply and close the filter window.
-
Once you have completed selecting the Routes you want to schedule to, and the rides you'd like to assign, just click Schedule.
This will begin a loading screen, and depending on the number of rides and routes you have it may take a minute to load. -
Once loaded, you're back at the AutoSchedule screen. Now there are no rides in the Rides box, and we can see that 17 rides have been reassigned.
In the Routes box, grey lock icons represent the number of rides that have just been assigned. -
Before Saving the schedule, it is important to confirm that the AutoSchedule worked correctly.
You'll want to go through each route to verify that riders are not on the vehicle for excessive time, and that each ride is completed on time. -
To see a Route in detail, and double-check what the AutoSchedule system did, click the route name to open a new window detailing the route's schedule. Here we'll start at the top, click 3 - Small Car Route to open it.
-
The top section contains basic route info, including Capacity; the Scheduled time the route needs to complete all trip inspections, breaks, and rides assigned to it; the Available time assigned to the route, and Break information.
-
The next section contains the details of all rides assigned to the route. This contains pickup and dropoff times. The earliest and latest windows that were assigned in the Schedule Profile.
And trip information, like load and ride times. -
The section below Rides contains a detailed chronological view of all Jobs for the day.
This view may be easier to look at if the Route has a lot of rides.
For now, click the Close button to go back to the original AutoSchedule screen. -
Now we can select another route to view, click 4 - Downtown to check it.
-
At the bottom of each route, below the Jobs area, there is a statistics section that details information about what the AutoSchedule system has done.
Click on the arrows at the bottom of the screen for another way to switch between routes. -
For each route we can also view a map.
Click Map It. This will open a new pop-up window. -
On the map we can view a a step by step set of stops, and directions can be viewed.
The route is mapped on the screen, and you can zoom in and out and drag the map around.
Click on any Stop to view the location in greater detail. -
Now we can see the location of the driver's first stop in greater detail, and view the route the driver will take to pickup this rider.
Close the map window to go back to the route details. -
Once you have confirmed that this schedule services all riders appropriately, and that all routes are scheduled correctly, click Save.
Until you Save on this screen, the AutoSchedule will not change anything in your Daily Schedule. -
Once you've Saved your AutoSchedule, you can view your schedule on the Daily Schedule screen.
That's it! You're done!
Next we'll look at what some of the other buttons do in AutoSchedule, and how to fix any issues when scheduling rides.
