30 STEPS
-
AutoSchedule isn't always right the first time, sometimes you may find need to adjust and refine the Autoschedule results.
Make sure you've Geocoded and Calculated Direct Drives.
Then click AutoSchedule to begin -
This time we want to schedule in town rides before the rides with long drive times.
Click the Wrench icon to filter rides. -
In the Pickup City filter, we'll select Asheville to only see rides that have a pickup location in town.
-
In the Dropoff City filter, we'll also select Asheville. Now we will only see rides with both both a pickup and drop off location in town.
Click OK to go back to the Autoschedule screen and see your results. -
Now that we have filtered for rides in town, let's select which routes our in town reservations will be assigned to.
Here we'll select Route #1 and Route #5.
Click the Toggle Switch to select the routes. -
Now we'll select all of the reservations. Because it's filtered, all the rides shown meet our filter criteria. We can use the top Toggle Switch to select all rides.
-
Click Schedule to seat these rides.
-
Notice we failed to seat one ride. Paul's ride has a pickup time that is after the available times of the routes we selected.
The AutoSchedule feature will not seat a ride to a trip that is not selected. -
There is also an orange warning box that has appeared on Route #1. In this case, AutoSchedule could not fit all riders on Route #1 without adjusting the Route availability slightly.
It will only ever add around 5 minutes to the Route, maximum. -
If you have checked the routes and are satisfied with the schedule, Click Save.
This will lock the reservations onto their respective routes, turning grey unlock icons into blue lock icons. -
Clicking Save will clear any filters you have used, so now we can see the other rides for the day, as well as the ride that couldn't be seated before because we did not select an appropriate route.
Click the Toggle Switch to seat the remaining rides. -
Since we don't have a particular route we want these rides on, we can click the Toggle Switch to select all routes.
Now that the in town rides have been locked onto routes, Autoschedule will not move those rides. -
Click Schedule to seat the remaining riders.
-
4 of the remaining rides were seated, but Rick's first ride was not scheduled. This means that the AutoSchedule could not fit his ride into any route without violating time windows, special assistance, or rides that are already locked on.
-
To fix this, we can try re-seating rides that are already locked to a route. This allows the AutoSchedule feature to move every ride between selected routes. Click Select Strategy to see what options are available for re-seating.
-
No Rides will allow you to reverse changes made after selecting new strategies.
Priority Violations will allow customer to be dropped off and picked up later than their Priority times.
All Violations will allow any rules you have set to be broken. -
The most commonly used strategy is For Efficiency.
This will allow you to re-seat rides to maximize route efficiency. Click this option to select it. -
Be sure to have all the routes you wish to modify, and the remaining ride you wish to seat, selected.
When you are ready, click Schedule -
AutoSchedule has now successfully seated the last ride. To do this, it reassigned seating of 9 other rides.
Click Reassigned Rides to examine what rides have been moved. -
The Moved Rides pop-up shows all rides that were reassigned during the last step. We can see that after allowing riders to moved between rides, we had enough space for Rick's first ride on Route #5.
Click to close Moved Rides. -
Check through all the routes to make sure they are correct. When you are satisfied, you can click Save to lock all rides onto their new routes.
However, if this process did NOT work, there are other things you can try. -
If you are having trouble seating rides with AutoSchedule, it may be because of some of the rules you have up in Schedule Profile, Company Master, or Vehicle Master. Before checking and adjusting those rules, there is one more switch in this menu.
-
Clicking Allow Non-Priority Violations When Seating will allow the AutoSchedule to break some rules, like maximum ride time, while still ensuring that each rider is gets to location on time, with respect to their Priority Time.
Click the Switch. -
Since we did not Save our last run of AutoSchedule, notice all the rides are represented by grey unlock icons, this means all rides can be moved and changed by this new run.
Click Schedule when you are ready. -
Now we can see that 11 rides have been reassigned by seating while allowing Non-Priority Violations.
Click Reassigned Rides to see what rides were moved. -
Here we can see in this version of the schedule, Rick's ride now has a pickup time that is earlier than the rules we have set. He also rides longer than the maximum ride time. However, he still gets to his appointment at the right time.
-
If you'd like a closer look at what was changed by route, click on the Route you'd like to check.
If you want an overview of what statistics have changed since the last time you clicked Save, click Statistics. -
This pop-up will show statistics for the schedule as a whole. If you are making the schedule and want to tweak options to minimize ride time, deadhead time, and other values, keep checking this window to see what changes you've made overall.
-
Once you have confirmed that each route is accurate, and that each ride is serviced appropriately click Save to lock your riders onto their routes, and go back to your Daily Schedule.
-
That's it, you've adjusted AutoSchedule to fit all your rides and riders!
